This is great to see what happened to some of the characters we meet in book 1 A Change of Plans. So many stories have side characters you just want to see what happened with them and this was perfect. Nothing long and drawn out, but enough to give you something of Elle's story.After being involved in a pirate attack on their side expedition on their Pacific cruise, Elle has to deal with the guilt she feels after being the one who convinced her best friend Lyn to take the cruise. Now Lyn and Braedon from "A Change of Plans" are lost at sea, Jori's in the hospital with a pretty serious head wound, and Elle is trying to make sense of it all, and trying to figure out what she can do. Completely out of her element and unable to make everything better, we get to see how the survivors of traumatic experiences deal with everything that happens.
It helps fill in some of the things you miss from book 1, and will be something to tied you over til book 2 comes out this summer. In book 2 you'll get to see what happens with Jori and I'm so excited for that.

This was a perfect in-between story. Loved knowing what some of the secondary characters were doing while the main characters were having their adventure in the first book. Also a great lead into the second book that is soon to come out.
The author has chosen to write different viewpoints to the same event. I think it works well here since the novel, A Change in Plans takes the main characters far away in time and distance. When read with the book, it makes the short story more interesting than if read on its own. I hope there will be more.
Donna K Weaver has a talent for bringing a story to life through its characters. Hope's Watch lets you in on the feelings of secondary characters from A Change of Plans, so much so that they become your new best friends too. As a short novella, it tied me over quite nicely while waiting for the full sequel, Torn Canvas was released. And it was a sweet reminder of how much I enjoyed her first novel.
What an absolutely fine, this book is actually very good. Couldn't put it down, love the characters and I love the plot. Wow what a well written story. Can't wait to read more by this author. Love it. I received this ARC for an honest review.
Although it isn't necessary in order to enjoy this story, I would strongly recommend reading the first book in the series. This book shows what one of the supporting characters from book 1 goes through when she and her friends are attacked by modern-day pirates. Her friends are missing and she is trying to keep everyone together. It was a great look through Elle's eyes. It was so hard to watch her try to be strong for everyone else that was grieving and shoulder all the pain for the group. Wonderful, clean romance too! I can't wait until the next book!
This is an exciting story full of many different turns after a pirate attack on a cruise ship changes everything for Elle and her friend Lyn. I've traveled by cruise ship a few times and though I never had the misfortune to meet up with pirates, there have been some scary moments and the ads for this book piqued my curiosity. Donna’s clever book trailers enticed me, but I didn't realize it was a sequel until after starting it. Either way, it’s a good, traumatic story laced with hope and love which definitely kept me turning pages until the end. The catamaran is still missing but Mal is offering comfort....Sounds like there are more books in this series.
Not a story, not a novella, this is a history of a meeting which provides a filler between Safe Harbors 1 and Safe Harbors 2. It makes no sense if you haven't read the first book. It has no plot or ending. It is like a chapter of how two of the characters met. The writing is fine, but it seems a bit like trying to create a book where there is none. I would hate to think that this was written simply to pad the income from book 1 of the series, BUT so far haven't come up with a better idea.
